"BABES IN TOYLAND"
BABES IN TOYLAND, the Victor Herbert Operetta, is Maryland's longest-running Holiday Musical Spectacular. It was first produced in 1965 at the Lyric Opera House. Since that date, BABES IN TOYLAND has been produced every year in many venues, including The Hippodrome, Painters Mill Music Fair, Kraushaar Auditorium. It is now the annual fundraiser for THE CONSERVATORY, Baltimore Actors' Theatre, a College Preparatory School of the arts, Grades Pre-One through Twelve. BABES IN TOYLAND is highlighted by a cast of 100, a 20-piece orchestra, and features a Toyland Parade, Dragon Ballet, Parade of the Wooden Soldiers, and a beautiful Toyland Wedding.
BABES IN TOYLAND has enjoyed the sponsorship of Equitable Bank, Sweetheart Cup, WJZ-TV 13, WMAR-TV 2, WBAL-TV 11, WBFF-TV 45. BABES IN TOYLAND has become a Baltimore tradition with families and individual members performing for as many as 34 years. Graduates of THE CONSERVATORY, Baltimore Actors' Theatre return periodically to repeat roles they originated. BABES IN TOYLAND is BAT's answer to The Nutcracker. It is now being performed annually at Kraushaar Auditorium, a 1,000-seat theatre on the beautiful Goucher College campus in Towson, Maryland.
